WE ARE ON YOUR SIDE

Protect Military Votes is a project of the American Constitutional Rights Union designed to encourage military voting and ensure all votes cast by members of the United States military and their family members are counted—and honored.

The mission of Protect Military Votes, a project of American Constitutional Rights Union, is to protect the votes of those protecting us.

There have been numerous cases of military ballots mishandled by local election officials, and we believe these votes should be honored with the highest level of efficiency and integrity.

The goal of Protect Military Votes is to:

  • Increase voting participation rates of military members and their families by educating them about voting rights, processes and deadlines.

  • Provide a channel for military members to report concerns or problems in the handling of their ballots

  • Identify any local or state election officials not adhering to military ballot regulations

  • Take action in cases of military ballot tampering or mishandling

The Federal Voting Assistance Program reports that 22% of active-duty military personnel wished to vote but experienced barriers to voting.

About three-quarters of the 1.3 million active-duty military members are eligible to vote absentee with special protections because they’re stationed away from their voting residence.

WHY WE FIGHT

When a citizen leaves leaves home and family to risk all fighting for our freedoms, they shouldn’t have to worry about whether their vote will be counted. The shocking reality is that our service members abroad face obstacles that hinder their basic right to vote. From difficulty getting absentee ballots, to processes that bring into question whether their vote will even be counted, our military personnel struggle to do what we at home take for granted.

“Nowhere is the right to vote more sacred than when it resides in the hands of America’s warfighters. It is the responsibility of all citizens and government officials to ensure every military ballot is sent and received and each military vote properly counted. As the men and women of the U.S. military protect us here and abroad, we must protect their voices in the political process.”
Hon. Kenneth Blackwell, Former Secretary of State (Ohio), ACRU Action Board of Directors

“I have fought to defend our great Republic on the battlefield alongside great patriots. Now it is time for us to defend the fundamental rights of all soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines to cast their votes for those who would lead our nation. We must ensure that local election officials give every member of the military the opportunity to vote in a timely manner, in accordance with federal laws. We must protect military votes.”

LTC Allen B. West (US Army, Retired), Member, 112th US Congress

“I recognize that getting the ballots out on time requires a special effort by the Local Election Official (LEO). I submit that this is a small accommodation to make to facilitate the enfranchisement of the brave young men and women who are away from home and prepared to lay down their lives in defense of our country. Were it not for the sacrifices of military personnel, from the American Revolution to the Global War on Terrorism, none of us would have the opportunity to vote in free elections.”

Samuel F. Wright, Captain, JAGC, USN (Ret.)

Military Voting Issues in the News

Faulty Voter Rolls Poison Election Integrity, But Here’s An Antidote

For millions of Americans, the conduction of the 2020 general election continues to raise more questions than provide answers — and rightly so. In unprecedented fashion, outside actors such as Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg attempted to exert influence on the electoral process by pouring hundreds of millions of dollars into left-wing nonprofits to infiltrate government elections offices and fund Democrat get-out-the-vote operations in key battleground states across the country.

Von Spakovsky: Federal Government’s Bungled Census Bad News for Red States. Here’s Why.

If a politician from Florida decides to run for president in 2024, his (or her) home state will be short two votes in the Electoral College, and when the new session of the U.S. House of Representatives convenes in January 2023, Florida will be missing two congressional seats to which it is entitled. Why? Because according to a post-2020 census survey, the U.S. Census Bureau significantly undercounted the population of Florida, as well as Arkansas, Illinois, Mississippi, Tennessee and Texas. At the same time, it overcounted the population of eight states, all but one of which is a blue state.

Von Spakovsky: Voter Fraud Cases Continue to Occur

We recently added nine new cases to the Heritage Election Fraud Database, bringing the total number of entries of proven instances of voter fraud in the database to 1,374. The mounting collection of cases continue to disprove the narrative that voter fraud is not real and that further election integrity measures are not needed.

Arizona Supreme Court Election Integrity Wins over Soros Ballot Measure

Supporters for election integrity scored a major victory Friday when the Arizona Supreme Court held that Proposition 210 — a ballot initiative to undo Arizona’s new election integrity law, financed with George Soros’s money — cannot be on the November ballot due to a lack of valid signatures.

Election Integrity Experts Hopeful about the 2022 Midterms

A common refrain in politics has always been, “If you don’t like how the country is being run, make your voice heard in the next election” (or some variation thereof). But after serious voting irregularities surfaced during the 2020 presidential election, causing widespread concern over the validity of the results, many Americans are approaching the 2022 midterm elections with a nagging pit in their stomachs: What if mine and the voices of millions of my fellow citizens are rendered silent by voter fraud?

The Latest Federal Takeover of Elections Violates Federal Law

Democrats haven’t stopped trying to take over elections, they just have new tactics to do so under voters’ noses.Employees throughout the federal government who are carrying out President Joe Biden’s executive order directing them to get involved in state elections are likely all violating the Anti-Deficiency Act, besides interfering in the election process and using federal resources in what seems to be a get-out-the-vote operation for the party in power in the White House.

Moore v. Harper and Marc Elias’s Curious Idea of ‘Democracy’

Marc Elias, the leading Democratic election lawyer, complains that “a dangerous theory will have its day in court” this fall. That’s rich—he was instrumental in bringing it there by litigating the case that raises it. But his dire warnings have attracted plenty of support. The headline of a Washington Post op-ed by a trio of legal scholars blares the threat of a “body blow to our democracy.”

Ed Meese and Ken Blackwell: The Most Despicable Form of Vote Fraud

We celebrate patriotic senior citizens and the invaluable contributions they have made to the financial strength and fundamental freedoms we enjoy as Americans. In turn, we must take every action to ensure the integrity and intent of our seniors’ political choices at a time when they are at risk to be targets of vote fraud. We are calling on fellow Americans to demonstrate their gratitude and respect for seniors by helping to protect the sanctity of their votes.

Allen West: I Am an American Soldier

There are times when we need to be reminded of where the real greatness of America lies. It is not with politicians, political pundits, and prognosticators, and it is certainly not with those who seek to fundamentally transform the greatest nation the world has ever known. But what has made America this great nation? It is simple—the men and women whom we may never know who will stand guard on freedom's ramparts and say, “sleep well, I am on watch.”

Hans von Spakovsky: Latest Election Fraud Cases Underscore Importance of Election Integrity

With the latest cases of impersonation, registration fraud, absentee ballot fraud, bribery, and illegal vote trafficking added to The Heritage Foundation’s Election Fraud Database, the database now contains 1,365 proven instances of election fraud. These cases demonstrate the wide variety of ways in which bad actors set out to submit fraudulent ballots or steal elections. The database is not an exhaustive or comprehensive list of all election fraud in the states. Rather, it presents a sampling of recent, proven instances of election fraud from across the country that is intended to highlight the many ways in which fraud has been committed.

Hans von Spakovsky: Ensuring That Only US Citizens Vote

The latest politically motivated lawsuit—filed against Arizona by the Biden Justice Department over the state’s new law attempting to verify the citizenship of registered voters—demonstrates the importance of a bill just introduced by Rep. Gary Palmer, R-Ala., HR 8223, that would stop that lawsuit in its tracks.
